We are promoting the baking jobs in the media by visiting schools, liaising with job providers, and attending career expos throughout the country to get the message out to the school-leaver and job seeker community.

In November 2022, we held a national webinar to promote the baking jobs to career advisors, employment service providers, and more. The Baking Industry Job Board was featured along with several bakers working in the industry.

On 7 November 2022, the NBIA launched The Baking Industry Job Board. This great tool is hosted on the NBIA website and is promoted to a broad variety of potential job candidates via Employment Service Providers, community groups, careers advisors, school careers counsellors, online communities, and industry representatives.

Promoting the baking career path – who is our audience?

On Monday 18th July 2022, the group visited a class of 24 hospitality students at St James College, in Brisbane. The students were asked why they would and wouldn’t consider baking as a career. The discussion that followed assisted the Baking Industry Working Group to understand some of the factors that hinder or encourage a school leaver’s decision to take on the baking career path.

Skill Shortage: An Australian Baking Industry Issue

In April 2022, the NBIA team recently attended the 2022 Queensland Workforce Summit. The event facilitated an opportunity to work in partnership to identify and co-design practical solutions for addressing the state’s current workforce shortages and harness future opportunities for ongoing economic growth.
